Shaun Evaristo and TaeYang

shaun evaristo tae yang

While G-Dragon is s-l-o-w-l-y doing his solo, best bud Tae Yang is making his solo come back with a digital single called, “WHERE U AT”.  This will be Tae Yang‘s first full album. His first mini album that was released last year only had a small slot for promotions, so YG Entertainment is hoping to make promotions for this album a long lasting one.

What does Shaun Evaristo have to do with this? While everyone else is reporting on awesome choreographer, Rino from Beat Freaks (SNSDs’ Genie, f(x)s’ La chA TA), they are forgetting that Shaun is one of the most talented choreographers and is wanted… by YG. While they haven’t officially announced that Shaun choreographed Tae Yang‘s new single, “WHERE U AT”, it’s not a long shot since Shaun twittered last week that he was off to Korea to do some work.  If you aren’t so sure, Shaun also did the choreography to Big Bang‘s “Number One” and G-Dragon‘s Heartbreaker dance.

Since Shaun did the crime, Tae Yang will do the time, and I can’t wait to see what the choreo looks like.

JPop & KPop Secrets

So we found some funny, yet true fan secrets of JPop and KPop and thought we’d share with you all. Why? Because we either fully or partially agree with these. Plus they’re funny. Enjoy.

Note: We DID NOT do these, these were posted on the J-Rock and K-Pop Secret communites on LJ.

I still can’t get over TOP and the Jimmy Fallon. That is just too classic for words. And that last one of the J-Rock musicians, really? None of my guy friends, even the Japanese musicians do that with their friends. Fail.

Asia Song Festival 2009 conference

And what a conference it was. Artists from all over Asia performed in South Korea for the festival. Amongst the artists in at the conference, no one had a miscommunication problem.

Gackt suprised us with his Korean, because really, he didn’t fail like Big Bang did in Japanese. SNSD showed off their fluency in English, Mandarin and Japanese. We already know 2NE1 speaks about 6 languages so there’s no need to be surprised about them.

Now they need to move their butts and have that festival here in L.A. so we can see all them perform too.

Will go you cha-cha-cha for LA chA TA?

f(x)

Unlike most fans (99.9% of them), I didn’t have any expectations of f(x) (probably because I’m not a fan of SM groups). The teaser MV reminded me of SHINee and when they announced this group, I knew this was in retaliation to 2NE1.

Why? SNSD failed to beat out 2NE1 how many times? With this group and their style, you can’t tell me I’m wrong when I say, “2NE1 much?” The concept, style and timing are all too perfect.

How will SM beat out YG? This is how. When you watch the MV, they are the female version of SHINee. Much like how 2NE1 is the female version of Big Bang (although I disagree).  Don’t get me wrong, I really like f(x), they’re not SNSD. They can dance and most of all they aren’t based off of looks (like their seniors).

While you can go on many K-Pop blogs and find the history of this group, I’m not going to post that. I will say though, how stereo typical to put the Chinese-American as the rapper. Why do they have to make her look like a guy? Amber looks like she belongs in SHINee. I could have sworn I seen one of her outfits on Key. Oh look they did, poor Amber, she got recycled clothes. All they did was change the tank top, if you can’t see the similarities, I really can’t help you there.

key shinee amber f(x)

The way they styled her makes f(x) look like 1 guy and 4 girls. Now wouldn’t that be a scandal?

Anyways, have fun watching this MV, I know I do.  How long do you think before we’ll start seeing copy dances on YouTube? I give it another 30 minutes or so, if they’re not already up.

Dear G-Dragon, you are so smart!

g-dragon

Oh G-Dragon, you are like TMZ Korea, just solo. You stir up so much crap, that I know you do it on purpose because bad publicity is better than no publicity. GD is a prodigy, got to give him that.

What’s the new ‘accusation’ this time? Well SNSD fans claim that GD ripped off SNSD’s song “Gee” in his song “The Leaders”. The part of “GGGG G baby baby GD GD baby baby”, is said to sound exactly like “Gee Gee Gee baby baby Gee Gee Gee baby baby”.

You know what? It does, and? You netizen’s, anti’s and fangirls need to give it a rest already. It’s called “he pulled an Eminem”.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe he did it that way on purpose to get a rise out of people because maybe he is making fun of SNSD? Or he actually likes the song and is paying tribute, but I doubt it. Or maybe he went out with one of the SNSD girl’s and is talking about her in the song? I’ll go with the better latter of the evils, its more fun that way.

We forgot to mention this earlier, but happy outing of the hospital Daesung. Wish you a speedy recovery.

Other agencies’ exclusivity contracts

SSI_20090806113517

Because of the whole situation with DBSK, some news sites have gone and done their own investigative reporting to see how well the other top acts fared in their exclusivity contracts.

SM Ent : 6-13 years
JYP : 7 years
YG : 5 years
DSP : 5-7 years

SSI_20090806113518

Yoona of SNSD is the only one of the 9 girls who is contracted at 13 years. The reason: she’s been taking acting lessons since she was a child and has shown she can multi-task. “In YoonA’s case it’s due to the fact that she is not contracted as just a singer but as an actress as well.” said a SM representative.

SS501 is contracted for 5 years where as, KARA, is contracted for 7 years.  The reason? Girls are easier to market than males. Although an industry expert says, “Though top groups like TVXQ are omitted from this format, but typically girl groups that have the possibility of venturing into commercials, acting, and modeling tend to have contracts written out that are slightly longer than their male counter parts. It seems the younger they are the better that chances this will happen.”

SSI_20090806113519

In my opinion, girls are just easier to market. If a female fails at selling records, they can easily put out a photobook, model, act in CM/dramas, etc. It’s easier to sell the female face and body than a male’s. It’s a proven fact in Japan and I’m sure it’s proven in Korea and Taiwan.

Some may say 13 years is a long time, while it is, if they start off young, they’re usually out of it in their early 20’s or so.  But if you entered in your teens, I can see where it sounded good “at the time”, but to be done with it in your mid 20’s just sounds like jail.
