Suitest Taboo Chronicles Blog

substitution is by no means a replacement of the original – if you hate us, we love you –

Octoberfest is not just about beer!

It’s all about the boy bands.

So with all the girl groups out in Korea, it looks like this month they’re tossing the PMS out and bringing the testosterone in.

Four groups and one solo artist will be releasing new songs. In which three of the five are set to make their debut and compete for the best male artist of the month (in our books).

tae yang

First up, Tae Yang. One of the lead vocals of Big Bang; made his solo debut last year with a number one selling mini album “HOT“, and comes back with a new digital single called “Where U At.”  The song is said to be about Tae Yang finding his true love. While he has stated that he has never had a girlfriend, Tae Yang I’m sure you won’t have a problem finding any applicants, it’s the interview process that’s going to be a b!#$h.

Second we have SHINee, releasing their third mini album, “2009, Year of Us” on 10/9. They just finished promotions in Japan for their second mini album, “Romeo“, and are finally resuming activities in Korea. You know with a title like “2009, Year of Us“, they may not be far off seeing as how DBSK will be going on hiatus for a bit.  Coincidence? I think not. At least SME has some ‘new blood’ to fall back on and slave away.

Now we come to the three newbies into the scene.

First up we have B2ST aka Boys 2 Search the Top. Okay really is that name necessary? B2ST is pronounced “Beast”, but when I see the name I want to say “Best” or “Backstreet”. This is a six member group that has some not-so-new members to the music scene. Jang Jyun Seung auditioned for Big Bang, Yoon Doo Joon auditioned for One Day, both obviously were eliminated. AJ made a previous solo debut and Poppin’ Dragon used to belong to a boy band called Xing. The last two members, Yang Yo Seob and Son Dong Woon are new to the scene. Let’s hope they don’t choke and that their sunbae’s are helping them out.

child of empire

Second is Child of Empire. This group has nine members (NEWS anyone?). They are under Star Empire Entertainment and already have people buzzin’. The group is not set to make an official debut until 11/28, but from September to November the group will do a nationwide guerilla concerts.

Last and not least is Rain’s boy band MBLAQ (Music Boys Live in Absolute Quality). I think Rain stayed way to long in the states to come up with a wack name like that. I feel like he ripped off B2K or Blackstreet. Rain hand picked these boys and trained them himself. So they better be good, because if not, well that just goes to show you what kind of taste he’s got now don’t it? He did release a teaser poster of the group. Can we say cover of Qr, Unzipped and Instinct Magazines? Sorry, but you can not look at that photo and not think that.

With all these groups coming out, I personally look forward to Tae Yang and Child of Empire. Why? Because when I see that photo of them, I feel like breaking out into a commercial. That photo looks like an ad for a really nice clothing store.

2NE1’s Sudden Attack!

Make way for the ladies of YG as they set foot into the male dominated game, Sudden Attack.

Earlier this year, Big Bang joined Rain in joining the ranks of being a celebrity as characters in the game. Now 2NE1 will be made into characters for one of Korea’s most popular shooting games.

Doesn’t that poster look hot? CL looks badd ass, Minzy would too if she didn’t look so young. Bom looks a classy assasin from a Bond movie and Dara looks like she’s ready to hurt someone. Some netizens are speculating just how well the foursome will do. I on the other hand, is waiting to see some female domination. Kick some arses girls, show them who their mommy daddy is now.

He’s making it RAIN in Japan!

Bi made it ‘rain’ in Japan this past weekend. On 8/29 and 8/30, RAIN performed at Saitama Super Arena. It’s been two years since he’s been back in Japan, so this year he made it rain for his “LEGEND OF RAINISM 2009/RAIN ASIA TOUR IN JAPAN”.

For his show on 9/29, he kept everything simple; nothing fancy, just him and a back band. He wanted everyone to focus on his performance more than anything else.

He also paid tribute to Michael Jackson by performing a hot dance to “Billie Jean”.

“He was the best performer. It’s because of him music is what it is today. It’s because of him that I started to dance; he is someone I will always respect.”

RAIN performed 25 songs including, It’s Raining, Running away from the Sun, I Do, I’m Coming, BAD BOY, Love Story, RAINISM, etc.

His show was so hot, that at one point some of the fans looked away because RAIN was half naked and dancing “sexy” with one of the female dancers.

You know I bet if Megan Fox saw that dance, hot and jealous all at the same time. She would be hating on that dancer. Oh well.

It’s sad Michael died on my birthday and RAIN‘s. Well we can take comfort in knowing that people won’t be forgetting our birthdays anytime soon.

Incheon Music Festival 2009

incheon music festival

SM TOWN isn’t the only big thing not happening. Get ready for the Incheon Music Festival on 8/22. Check out the artist line-up: Rain, Super Junior, F.T. Island, SS501, M, MC Mong, 2PM, Girl’s Generation, Chae Yeon, KARA, Lee Jung Hyun and other artists.

I want to go to this, if I was in Korea, I would so go! I think everyone’s fine except the SM artists. Maybe because SM Town’s concert’s is on hold they needed to put them to work on something else??
