No Sleeves celebrates their 1 year anniversary

AKB48’s Haruna Kojima, Minami Takahashi and Minami Minegishi celebrated the release of their third single called “Kiss no Ryuusei.” The three members are apart of AKB48 and like Hello! Project formed a seperate 3-man unit called No Sleeves.

The event was also to celebrate the groups one year anniversary as the single will be released the day the group actually debuted one year ago. The event “Handshake and falled star!?” was held on 11/27 at Tokyo Dome’s La Qua Gardens, in which 4000 fans came and adorned the girls with much love. To help celebrate with them comedian duo Bad Boys came out to MC the event.

AKB48 at MAMA 2009!

The girls of AKB48 have done it again and this time they are invading MAMA (MNET Asia Music Awards) in Seoul. They won some type of award, I would tell you what that award is, but I can’t read Korean well. I bet it was probably along the lines of ‘Best female group from Japan‘ or something. They won the “Asian Recommend” award.

Anyways, its good to see that the group is prospering. Although the Korean groups they show in the video look like they are at a total loss as to why there are 12 girls on stage, I think some of them actually enjoyed them. They should be happy not all the girls were there. Then they’d just be baffled. The song they sang was “River.”

Notice how they panned in and out to the Korean artists. Taecyeon of group 2PM was seen counting how many girls on stage. While some say that, we say this. Taecyeon was actually pointing out to a fellow member of 2PM, which ones he liked and wanted to do. But then he got caught and stopped. I’m sure Taecyeon went home, looked up the group and found out he has more of selection. Well hopefully it leads to 2PM going to Japan and then you find out Taecyeon hooked up with a member or two… or three… or if luck would have it four. Just kidding.

Also, I just realized (more like found out) why AKB48’s promotions in US went so well and why they are at MAMA… they’re company is managed by a Korean. It explains the “Korean playbook”.

AKB48’s Tomomi Kasai on Twitter!

AKB48 member Tomomi Kasai has jumped on the band wagon of twits. Twitter that is. On 11/27 at the Ebisu Garden room, she will be doing a collaboration event with the webs most popular “What are you doing?” sites, called “Tomo~michan koto Kasai Tomomi’s “Sweet Tweet” Vol.1.”

Tomomi first appeared on Twitter last month on 10/27 with “Good evening everyone☆★it’s my first tweet(/∀\*) This is really exciting♪everyone please follow me.

The event will be in real-time and held by Daisuke Tsuda (@ogawakazuhiro) (journalist /@tsuda). Tsuda wrote a book called “Easy guide to Twitter” and a new book called “Twitter debate~The new real time web trend“. It was his idea along with Tomomichan for this event. There is no charge to participate in this event, but once 140 participants have been reached, they will no longer take anymore.

You can follow Tomomi at @tomoomichan and participate at the Sweet Tweet site. This is a real twitter account so all you AKB48 fans start following.

I think is a very cool idea. She will be to interact with all her fans. Although it would be better for her if they could figure out a way to include her overseas fans. It’s a shame its only for the Japanese fans. Twitter is now the portal for all celebrities to keep in touch with their fans.  Go Tomochan we are rooting for you!

NYC gets Brown Eyed Girls

beg

While AKB48 was showering fans at Webster Hall, Korean sensation Brown Eyed Girls catered to a more older and sexier crowd. The girls performed at the Circle Night Club in New York City, one of the hottest clubs in town.

The four member group was invited to the Korean Chuseok Festival in NYC and later performed at the club. So fans were given a double dose of the quartet. While the girls didn’t perform many songs, it didn’t stop them [or their fans] from showing off their hot bodies and the ever-so-difficult hip dance to their song, “Abracadabra”.

While some have difficulty understanding their outfits, I think they’re hot. It fits the theme and if your going to do a hip sway you need something that will show off your body. So tight hugging, form fitting articles of clothing is the only way to go. You have to admit not many people can pull this look off.

You would think that being in Los Angeles we would be privy to such acts, but alas we are not. One thing has become clear, K-Pop artists love NYC more than they do L.A., and I don’t blame them, its the ‘Big Apple’, everyone wants to go there, even the suicide bombers.

What I do think is sad, is that they didn’t even go or stop by Iggy. They should have taken advantage of that while they were in NYC. So it looks like the cute girls of AKB48 upped one on the sexy ladies of Brown Eyed Girls.

At least we get Son Dam Bi, who by the way will be performing in L.A. in November.

Check out Allkpop‘s interview with the foursome.

For a better quality check out enigmatt’s version of the Brown Eyed Girls performance at the festival. It really is a much better, higher quality version.

AKB48 visits MTVIggy one last time

So before heading back home to Tokyo, the girls of AKB48 made a surprise visit to MTV Iggy one last time. Not only did they take time out of their ever so busy schedule to say hi, but they took this opportunity to pimp themselves out by handing Iggy their music videos [to play].

Way to go girls. While not many J-Pop artists stop by Iggy unless they’re told to, you gals are a dime a dozen and most likely the epitome of what Japanese idols should be. Hurry and come back! L.A. is waiting for you too!
